Light Jog

Jog-Sprint-Change Direction

Split Group into 2 and send 1/2 to do sprints and the other half to ball handling.

This will work if we have enough non-evaluators to time the girls.

If numbers permit, all evaluators will watch each group as they go. If not we will

have two evaluators watch one group and two watch a second group and then

switch off.

Ball Handling

What to look for:  To see in general who can handle the ball with all parts of the foot, change direction and keep head up in a crowd.

One on One Attacker vs Defender

What to look for:

To see who traps a hard clear under pressure and then can elude a defender. For the defender, to see who is aggressive on the ball without being overly aggressive so that they are easily beaten.

Option: Can add sideline players so that there are give and go options
Time: About 15 minutes
Set up:

Define boundary lines
Have ball served at a good pace and to various parts of the body.
Have 3 girls waiting to take the ball
Switch the attacker to the defender line and the defender to the end of the attacker line.
Have the girls bring the balls back to the server.

3 vs 3 Game or 5 vs 5

What to look for:

To find out who can play under pressure. Who can move the ball to an open teammate. Look for who can move without the ball. Look for combination passes (Wall, overlap, etc.) Look to see who provides depth on the field (through balls).

Time: About 45 minutes
Set up:

This is a drill where we can do relegation. Start with 3 on 3 in 5 or six different fields.

If we want to score ,score 1 point for 3 consecutive passes plus an additional point for each pass after that, 3 points for each combination, 3 points for each through ball.

Give a point to the defender if they dispossess the attacker and make a successful pass.

Ten (10) wins. Winning team moves up losing team moves down except on the lowest rung where the losing team remains and the highest where the winning team remains.

Can also relegate players based on coaches evaluation. Depending on number of players can have 5 games going on simultaneously. Make sure the evaluators move from group to group.
