Pugg portable goals

a soccer coaching product review by Steve Watson

I received two Pugg portable goals from my good friends at soccerpro.com a few days ago and on Saturday I took them along to my girls' teams league match to try them out.

Pugg goals from soccerpro.com

At the end of our usual pre-match warm up I often get the girls to play a 5 minute 4v4 game to get them in the mood for the 'real thing'. In the past this has meant setting up cones as goalposts. Cones are OK but they are no good on windy days and they don't look very professional.

So on Saturday out came two very smart Pugg 4 foot goals.

They are very light, easy to carry and take up very little space in my car. A good start! I got them out of the bag, undid the little velcro strap that holds them together and hey presto! - two good looking goals that the players obviously couldn't wait to score into.

They really do pop up in a second. They come with stakes to tie them down and they seem very sturdy.

The 4v4 warm up game went better than usual and I'm sure it was because the girls had real goals to aim at.

I'll definitely be using them at training sessions and before matches from now on. The 4' version will be excellent for those 1v1 drills that we do and the larger 6' ones will be just the job for the end of session SSGs.

Every coach should have a couple of Pugg goals!

Oh..we went to win the league match so it really was a good day!
